Valiha Bridge: Completion of a Major Relocation Project at Nosy Be International Airport

Ravinala Airports celebrated on January 23 in Nosy Be the successful completion of the relocation of the village previously located within the airport zone to the new resettlement village of “Pont Valiha,” also known as “Fascène Nafindra,” marking a major milestone in the development and security of Nosy Be International Airport. This official ceremony, held in the presence of local authorities, institutional partners, and residents, marks the success of a long-term relocation process that placed the affected communities at the heart of the project, in line with International Finance Corporation (IFC) standards.Today, Pont Valiha is a self-sufficient village under the responsibility of the Municipality of Nosy Be, equipped with serviced infrastructure, access to water and electricity, and improved living conditions for its residents. Formerly without land titles for their homes located in the airport area, residents are now land title holders, have benefited from more than five years of support in restoring their livelihoods, and have received new homes built according to designs of their choice.
